3.0 out of 5 stars Verilux Brookfield Deluxe Natural Spectrum Desk & Table Lamp, December 29, 2007

This review is from: Verilux Brookfield Deluxe Full Spectrum Desk Lamp, Aged Bronze (Health and Beauty)
The Verilux Brookfield desk and table lamp is attractive, well-made and easily adjustable. Unfortunately, it has a couple of design flaws, resulting in my rating of only 3 stars.

While Verilux goes to great pains to convince the consumer that the lamp mimics the spectrum of natural daylight, it actually produces an unpleasant bluish light that reminds me most of the blue-green glare of mercury vapor lamps used in some street lamps. The light the Verilux bulb produces may look like daylight to a photospectrometer, but it does not at all resemble the light produced by the sun on a clear day to the human eye.

1.0 out of 5 stars plastic globe liner disintegrated within two years, February 14, 2010
I contacted both the merchant (who deferred to the manufacturer) and the manufacturer and was told the lamp was out of warranty so "we're sorry".
I've had lots of other lamps from quality manufacturers that are still perfect after 20 or more years of use.

I wouldn't buy another Verilux product on a bet.

I am very pleased with this lamp. It is well-made, attractive and provides extremely good light without glare. If I needed it, I would certainly buy another one.
