Unfortunately, it has a couple of design flaws, resulting in my rating of only 3 stars.First, the Natural Spectrum Daylight compact fluorescent lamp that comes with the Brookfield is, in my opinion, unsuitable for reading or viewing color illustrations. While Verilux goes to great pains to convince the consumer that the lamp mimics the spectrum of natural daylight, it actually produces an unpleasant bluish light that reminds me most of the blue-green glare of mercury vapor lamps used in some street lamps. The light the Verilux bulb produces may look like daylight to a photospectrometer, but it does not at all resemble the light produced by the sun on a clear day to the human eye. Colors, whether in photos in a book or magazine or on textiles or plants, are all shifted toward the blue end of the spectrum producing an uncomfortable, artificial look.
