It's VERY good looking, and I'm not easily impressed. I hate junky looking products. That is NOT what this is. It's beautifully designed in every way. The hood swivels in one direction on its axis to direct the light where you want it (more downward or more toward you). The color is very rich looking. And for those who complain about the "plastic hood"... please. The copy doesn't say GLASS, so what do you expect, Bakelite? It doesn't look like plastic. Doesn't feel like it either. My suggestion... if you like the looks of this lamp, ignore the crabby reviewers... order it. Like the vast majority of buyers, you'll be impressed. (If not, returning things from Amazon is crazy easy and convenient.) The only downside is the "Type T E-27" 60-watt" bulbs are not easy to find. I'm not sure if it's ok to... I put in a 16 watt CFL bulb and it puts out the perfect amount of light for my daughters piano.
