This lamp has a bright white light that I use on my desk at work. I am unsure if it really contributes to my mood or not, but I work in an office with virtually no natural light and this definitely helps brighten my mood and makes staring at a computer screen for hours seem not so bad. There is no eye strain with this light, and it is super bright. The only draw back I think this product has is that the base of the lamp is rather big to sit on your desk. If I were to purchase this again, I would get the floor lamp. I have both a Solarex desk lamp and a floor lamp. This purchase was for a replacemnt desk lamp for a lamp that quit working. It had worked fine for several years.These lamps produce a quite bright light, said to be equivalent to 150 watts, with a 27 watt four tube flourescent bulb. Makes reading easier. The currently purchased desk lamp seems to be better designed than my predecessor version. It's easier to adjust to direct the light where I want it, and the switch is placed in a position I find more accessible. If I were to suggest an improvememt it would be for better documentation, including not only where to get bulbs but other parts, if any,that can be replaced by a reasonably inclined, reasonably mechanically skilled user. The cost of the new lamp. I suspect, was less than a "professional" would charge to fix my malfunctioning earlier lamp.
