To save you money and help protect the environment, this lamp uses energy-efficient LED bulbs. These bulbs extend battery life and never need replacement. Additionally, they emit little or no heat when compared to incandescent lamps, so working for extended periods of time under and around the lens will be more comfortable.

I needed a compact desk top unit with a large magnifier that sat on the desk and not clamp on. The price had to be reasonable too. This seemed to meet all my needs but when I received it, I was surprised it was battery operated! It is even more fantastic!! I was able to use this with ease at a doll show and for long hours. The light is bright, the goose neck it easy to adjust, the bottom weight is perfect, the magnifying glass is very good and even has an extra little circle of higher magnification, great for working with beads. I would highly recommend this to anyone that wants and needs a magnifying lamp for crafts! I CAN FREELY DO MY CRAFTS AND WIRE WORKS WITH EASE BECAUSE I CAN SEE SO WELL WITH THIS LAMP. I CAN READ MY MAGAZINES AND WHEN FINISHED, I CAN LEAVE IT WHERE I LEFT IT BECAUSE IT IS SMALL. IT HAS A GOOSE NECK WHICH IS REALLY HANDY. I AM NOT SORRY ONE BIT THAT I BOUGHT THIS AND IT BEATS HAVING THE HEAVIER KIND WHERE YOU HAVE TO PLUG IN, THEN YOU ARE LIMITED WHERE YOU CAN USE IT. Arm bends easily, but not too flimsy. Base holds it's weight well - tilted the arm all the way to the ground and the base never budged. LED light is not bright...if you want a brightly lit lamp this is not for you. It's just barely adequate. Has an AC power option, but make sure the limit is 400mA and 4V. Easier to just use batteries and with LED will likely last a very long time with the batteries.
