I'd say I like three things about it compared to other desk lamps I have. The first is design. The design is absolutely beautiful. Melds well with my apple macbook and my desk. Looks very simplistic but high quality. A very clean and sleek look. The second is the light. I read a lot (Amazon owes me a lot for my business) and my eyes often get strained using any other desk lamp. The SoftTech LED Lamp has different settings that can adjust the "heat" or temperature of the lamp depending on your activity at the time (nightlight, comfortable cozy reading, bright study light, etc). Also, the light covers the entire spectrum, so it is almost exactly akin to reading under the sunlight. The last thing I actually really happy about is that its really energy efficient.
